After completing a loan move from Barcelona to Aston Villa, Philippe Coutinho has chosen the number 23 shirt which is Coutinho’s new shirt number.
After speaking with manager Steven Gerrard, the 29-year-old revealed he “immediately” decided to join the Midlands club.
After acquiring a work permit, Coutinho was officially introduced on Tuesday evening.
Next summer, the Premier League team has the option to purchase the Brazilian playmaker outright for £33 million.

He will replace Jota Peleteiro, Jordan Amavi, and Aly Cissokho in the vacant No.23 shirt at Villa Park.
“It’s because it was one of the available numbers and 23 is a number that I enjoy,” Coutinho said when asked why he chose the number 23.
“I’ve used it before and believe it will bring good fortune.”
