Steven Gerrard, the manager of Aston Villa, has criticized the lengthy delay before Danny Ings’ goal against Manchester United was disallowed on Monday night.
It, he claims, took the wind out of their sails.
After Video Assistant Referee (VAR) advised referee Michael Oliver to look at the pitch-side monitor, the match was delayed for more than three and a half minutes.
For Jacob Ramsey’s foul on Edinson Cavani, Oliver finally ruled the goal out.
“How long have you got?” Gerrard responded when asked about the decision. That one took the authorities three and a half minutes to settle.
“According to the linesman, it had something to do with Jacob hindering Cavani’s run.
“It wasn’t that difficult to take three-and-a-half minutes, and it’s sad because we were in a strong position at the time, and it took the sting out of the game.”
