Unknown shooters are said to have stormed the Celestial Church of Christ in Wasim, Ogun state, and taken two worshippers hostage.
On Tuesday, June 14, shooters assaulted the Celestial Church of Christ, Oshofa Parish, in Wasim, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, during a vigil.
The abducted victims were identified as the Assistant Shepherd of the parish, Oluwaseun Ajose, and a Sunday school teacher, Aguero Ayobami, by the spokesperson of the Ogun state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the attack in a statement.
According to the Daily Post, the church’s pastor, Oluwatomisin Ehuwaojomo, verified the occurrence over the phone, revealing that the abductors called him and wanted a ransom of N50 million for the release of the two church workers.
Ehuwaojomo stated that he was not present at the time of the occurrence.
“The kidnappers refused to speak with me twice when my Assistant Shepherd called over two hours after they fled.” However, on his third attempt, they approached me and wanted a ransom of N50 million. I explained to them that I am God’s servant and no one gives me a wage. I spoke with the Commissioner of Police of Ogun State. “The command is looking into it.” He stated his case.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user claiming to be a church member stated that the shooters abused a pregnant woman but left her behind since she couldn’t walk.
In addition, he uploaded a video of local youths denouncing the attack.
