Lucky Dube died on August 3, 1964, at 43. Lucky Dube was killed by carjackers in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 7, 2007. Before his partner’s sad death, the Rastafarian had already recorded 22 CDs in Afrikaans, Zulu, and English. After struggling to conceive him, his mother called him Lucky before they split before he was born.

What transpired the night he was assassinated?

Armed robbers assassinated the African reggae king in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 18, 2007, shortly after he dropped the kids off at their uncle’s house.

The robbers allegedly targeted his vehicle, according to South African law enforcement. When the robbers failed to recognize him, they made a wild guess and killed him, presuming he was Nigerian. Lucky Dube attempted to flee after being shot at close range but went into a parked car and a tree.

Although five people were initially arrested and charged with Lucky Dube’s murder, only three were found guilty. Julius Gxowa, Mbuti Mabe, and Sifiso Mhlanga were convicted guilty by a jury on March 31, 2009. Three of the accused were given life sentences. Three people were also charged in a separate carjacking two days after Lucky Dube was killed in the same area.

Lucky Dube was a multi-talented individual who acted in addition to signing. The late Rastafarian appeared in several films, including Lucky, Strikes Back, Getting Lucky, and Voice in the Dark.
