On the popular microblogging network Twitter, a Nigerian man stated that only a virginally married lady has the right to demand that her husband be faithful to her.

Women who approached marriage with multiple body counts and even slept with married men, according to John Doe, should not expect their husbands to be loyal.

These women, he asserted, married in the hopes of finding a haven.

“Only a Virgin who met and married her husband has the right to expect that he stay true to her. Some of you came into your marriage with a large number of bodies, to the point where you slept with married guys. You assumed your marriage would provide you with a safe “haven”?” He sent out a tweet.

John Doe’s message provoked resentment, particularly among women, and elicited various responses from Twitter users.

@Joan Ify7, a Twitter user, wrote:

“How about males with multiple body counts who have also slept with married women, such as male youth corpers who slept with married female corpers?”
There needs to be a balance.”

@FrancisUdeoji,

“The issue is that women compare themselves to males, which is why they continue to bear the brunt of their own consequences. For example, when Adam and Eve committed their sins, they were given a different punishment.”

@NedZeon,

“Women own and regulate the availability of sex; they have the monopoly on sex, and no guy will refuse a discount until he can find a better deal elsewhere.” A man can only haggle; women establish the price; thus, it’s up to them, not the men.”
