Youri Tielemans to Arsenal transfer: £25m asking price, Gunners stance, personal terms agreed

The Gunners have signed five new players and Mikel Arteta says they hope to add more before the transfer deadline. Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner are among the Gunners’ summer signings.

Arsenal are looking for a new central midfielder, and Tielemans is in the final year of his contract with Leicester. He may be available for a bargain price this summer. Omgists.com has gathered the newest Tielemans rumors below.

Waiting gunners

Omgists.com understands Arsenal will wait till Youri Tielemans’ contract ends to sign him for free.

The Gunners have a deal with the player and expect to pay less than Leicester’s asking price.

Arsenal felt £32m was too much for a player with one year left on his contract. External influences could affect Edu’s decision quickly.

Price cut

Leicester will let Tielemans depart for £25m, according to the Evening Standard.

The midfielder has a year left on his contract and has no plans to extend it.

Arsenal haven’t made an official bid for the Belgium international, but they’ll know what they’re missing when Leicester visits the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 13.

Predicted move

Ben Jacobs says Leicester expects an offer for Tielemans soon. Jacobs tweeted: “Leicester anticipates a bid for Youri Tielemans.

“Despite no offer, Arsenal is still a possibility. Leicester needs $30,000,000. Tielemans wants his future clarified.

“#MUFC still interested.”

Date-limit

Arsenal is yet to submit an official bid for Tielemans, while Leicester has set a deadline for any deal to be completed. Brendan Rodgers suggested over the weekend that Tielemans could depart, but no offers have been made.

“That what-if scenario is in his thoughts, but he doesn’t want anything to linger on.”

Problem transferring

Arsenal is interested in Tielemans, but no transfer has been made. David Ornstein says the Gunners may have to sell a midfielder to sign one.

He said: “The decision makers at the club are all-in on him, but it’s more complicated than that. When you speak to people around this situation, they say, “There may need to be a departure first for Tielemans to come in, be that Granit Xhaka or someone else in that area to free up the space and the finance.

Rodgers updates

Brendan Rodgers said no progress has been made on a new contract for the 25-year-old. Rodgers said there’s no news on Tielemans’ contract.

“He’s a great coworker.” He’s back (for preseason) and he’s the same. He trains hard. His job and club make him happy. With a year left on his contract, he may feel compelled to consider his family’s needs. But I know he’s dedicated here.

“I’ll talk to Youri next week to hear his thoughts. He’ll be incredibly committed whether he leaves or stays for another five years.”

When asked if the Foxes would accept the player staying for the final 12 months of his contract before leaving next summer, the Northern Irishman said, “I’m not sure.” No suitable offer or no offer has been made. True.

Youri will keep training and working. He’s focused on becoming fit, and he’s a fantastic teammate. I’ll keep developing him and the team until that changes. We’ll have to see.”

Newcastle frets

Newcastle United is after Tielemans. Newcastle’s sporting director Dan Ashworth has contacted Arsenal regarding the midfielder.

Terms personal

Arsenal has been linked to Tielemans since last summer, so it’s no surprise that rumors have intensified this year. Jacobs said the Gunners and midfielder have personal terms.

Edu tweeted, “Tielemans wants to join Arsenal and Edu is in contact with his agent.” Arsenal agreed to terms, worked on the transaction for a year, but never bid.
